About Savannah Resources

Savannah Resources is a well-funded mineral resource development company headquartered in the UK and listed on the London, Frankfurt and Stuttgart Stock Exchanges. The Company’s flagship asset is the wholly owned Barroso Lithium Project in northern Portugal. This project provides Savannah with the opportunity to become an integral part of Europe’s new ‘lithium battery value chain’. The lithium battery value chain is fundamental to the European Commission’s target of making the EU a net-zero carbon economy due to the role lithium-ion batteries are playing in the energy transtion through their use in electric vehicles and for storage of renewable energy.

Opportunity and Role

As Savannah transitions from a mineral resource development company to a mineral producer based on its Barroso Lithium Project, it will be growing its team across multiple disciplines. As part of this transition the Company is looking to increase its communication function with the appointment of a Communication Manager, Portugal to work closely with the CEO and the Executive team, the Board, and the Company’s PR and community relations advisers.

 

The Requirements

  • We require a dynamic team-oriented individual with a demonstrated record of participating in environmental and/or Feasibility level studies within Portugal and previous experience working with Infrastructure Portugal would be an advantage.
  • It is envisaged that the successful person will have qualifications in Civil Engineering, Environment or Project Management.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including consultants and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Experience in developing proposals, budgets and schedules for new studies preferred, but not essential.
  • This position is required to be based in Portugal with frequent site travel.
  • Fluent in English.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Take a key role in the planning, producing and delivery of the Company’s communication strategy with particular emphasis on stakeholders within Portugal and the European Commission including:
    • Managing (drafting, editing, finalising, coordinating) communication materials such as marketing documents, press releases, presentations, newsletters and fact sheets, ensuring consistency of messaging and branding across all formats
    • Arranging media and stakeholder events
    • Making a significant contribution to Savannah’s campaigns across a variety of social media platforms, industry publications, national and international press
    • Acting as an initial point of contact for the Portuguese media,
    • Handling information requests from government, the European Commission, and other parties interested in Savannah’s activities, and coordinating our responses
    • Representing Savannah at external events in Portugal and elsewhere
    • Growing Savannah’s network within the media, government and not-for-profit sectors, and with industry-related bodies and in other industrial sectors
    • Assisting in the development and management of the company’s international communication strategy and plan
    • Managing Savannah’s Portuguese communications team including the Company’s Communities & Social Performance Specialist
    • Managing Savannah’s relationship with its PR consultants

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

 Educated to Undergraduate degree level (min 2:1 or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g., communications, journalism, business & commerce, social sciences, geology, metallurgy, mechanical or chemical engineering)

  1. Minimum 5 years’ experience within a communication role ideally within the natural resource, chemicals, automotive or industrial sectors in Portugal
  2. Advanced user of MS PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; intermediate user of MS Excel; familiar with major social media platforms
  3. Fluent in Portuguese and English
